Richard has handed in notice of resignation and we had Kate’s earlier in the year. New board members to be sought.
Appropriate paperwork for Companies House duly signed. Barry indicated he would be happy to stay on as treasurer until grants process finalised.
Ullaspool has Raised the Roof!
Well done to the Community of Ullapool and surrounding areas who helped Raise The Roof of our fantastic pool. We are delighted to announce that Ullapool swimming pool will reopen on Saturday 8th October 2011 at 10am! Back in May 2010 Ullaspool started its solar panel project funded by Community Energy Scotland unfortunately the pool had to close the doors due to structural defects in the roof. A huge fundraising drive was put in place and by January 2011 we secured funds required which would result in us having a new innovative energy efficient roof, with the solar panel project to be completed at the end.
The community raised a massive £64000.
Ullaspool continues “Raising the Roof”! Work is continuing to upgrade the roof of Ullapool’s Community Swimming Pool. Contractor, Ullapool Construction Ltd, has been busy since 1st March and the new roof is now in place with the brackets on, ready for the installation of the solar panels.
The solar panels were due to be installed by Invisible Heating Systems in May 2010 when problems with the roof structure were first identified and the pool was subsequently forced to close.

Ullaspool begins to Raise the Roof! Work has begun at long last to upgrade the roof of Ullapool’s Community Swimming Pool. Ullapool Construction have been busy since 1st March preparing the site for the installation of the new energy efficient. roof and solar panels.

The financing of this project has been made possible due to securing funds from a variety of sources - including the local community and both private and public bodies:

In May 2010 the community of Ullapool first discovered that the local swimming pool would need to be upgraded to allow solar panels to be mounted. Unfortunately the pool had to be closed until the upgrade was carried out. This was a huge blow to the community and it sparked a tremendous response. The following summary of fundraising effort demonstrates the huge community support for the upgrade of the swimming pool roof and its importance to the people of the area and further afield.
